The Dungeon Prisoner
by Chazz Azz
The prisoner knelt in a dungeon
With a cross of wood in his hand
He cried, "Oh God help me
I've been an honest man."
He said, "Lord they will kill me
For something I didn't do."
Tears welled within his saddened eyes
As he vowed his heart was true
The lightning cracked and the thunder roared
The rain came pouring down
The prisoner cried
"God give me life!"
Then he fell upon the ground
The soldiers looked astonished
To see the lifeless man
With a cross of wood that turned to gold
Still clutched within his hand
